Dear AUBURN Alumni & Friends:
Despite the rainy, cold, dark conditions, the 2/3/07 Florida West Coast Auburn Club (FWCAC)
had a very successful Winter Social & Fundraiser. Over 40 people attended ( I counted
43 in person), & this included 6 children. We even start them young at 7 mos. old; thank you Short family. We raised $520.50
for the FWCAC Scholarship fund, & $341.00 for the club operating
fund. Also, Adam Buskirk was elected Vice President, & Chris Pope was elected Secretary. Michael Miakinkoff now
just has the Treasurer's role to himself, which is a challenging enough job. I, Ben Lawson, was re-elected President &
am honored to serve in this position for another term. From the meeting itself, we received 9 FWCAC
family memberships & 4 individual memberships. Previously, we had 3 of each. Remember,
it's not too late to join. We have lowered club dues to $35 per family membership & $20 per individual membership. For
each membership, $5 is placed in the FWCAC Scholarship fund. Please
consider this an option for 2007. Also, send in any club information provided, in regard to your interests & talents,
if you have not done so already.
During the next 2 weeks, several other events will happen. For one, AUBURN's
fall football game with the South Florida Bulls
in AUBURN is supposedly being moved from 9/15 to 9/8 & will be carried by ESPN
or ESPN2. This appears on the South Florida website,
but has not been confirmed by autigers.com. Second, I will be in contact
with D'ablo Hunter of the AUBURN Alumni Association & Skip Ryan,
President of the Tampa Bay AUBURN Club about a regional meeting (to
also include the Polk.Co club, too). By doing this, we will supposedly be able to secure Coach Tommy Tuberville as a speaker.
Please give me your feedback about the highest price you'd be willing to pay for this event. Also, I requested the event be
on a Friday evening or a Saturday, so that children can come.
The reason I said 2 weeks is because that is the date of the next official meeting of the
FWCAC Officers, Board of Directors & Volunteers. It will be Monday February 26 2007 from 6:30-8:00 P.M. The meeting will be held at Adam Buskirk's
office, located at 303 9th Street West, Suite 201 in Bradenton. The office is located in the Mediterranean styled Wachovia bank building at the southeast corner of 3rd Avenue & 9th Street West.
It is across from (to the east of) the old pink hotel that is now under construction. Please indicate to me if you're coming
to the meeting by Wednesday February 21 & if you have an item for the agenda, which I will type up on the weekend of the
24th.
We've gotten off to a great start this year so far. Let's keep the momentum rolling. Have a Happy Valentine's Day.
WAR EAGLE,
